21st Century Bond, James Bond

Interesting that I should hear a piece on NPR this morning about the resurection on this iconic character in the new book Devil May Care by English author Sebastian Faulks, then read about Bond's gadgets only this afternoon in a technology magazine. I guess it's not so coincidental considering that today would be Ian Flemmings 100th birthday. The article in NewScientistTech talked about Bond's gadgets and how, even though they were first written about in the '60s, they are very much a part of our current technology. Mr. Flemming and his good friend James were quite ahead of their time. I think 007 will find some nice improvements in Devil May Care, though - wireless networking and cell phones to say the very least. And you can't successfully hunt down the bad guys without a Second Life avatar!
